Bright
A node-based compositing workspace for 2D and 3D. Read plates, grade through OpenColorIO, key, track, roto, merge deep renders, and write finished frames, all in one graph.
Why Bright
One graph for 2D, 3D, and color
A node graph you already know
Drag-and-drop node graph with tab search, rubber-band selection, pan and zoom, groups, and projects saved as plain JSON. A permanent Viewer node shows any of nine inputs.
Color managed end to end
OpenColorIO 2.5 on an OpenGL viewer with exposure, gamma, and channel isolation. Bright follows $OCIO when it is set, or ships ACES Studio Config v4 with camera IDTs. Pick the working space, frame rate, and format per project.
2D and 3D together
An interactive 3D viewport with cameras, meshes, lights, and a transform gizmo sits next to the 2D tools. Scenes render back into the comp, and Maya or Blender mouse navigation is a preference.
Pipeline
Built for plates and renders
Layered EXR in, layered EXR out
Multi-channel OpenEXR read and write keeps every layer and its metadata, with DWAA, ZIP, PIZ, and other compressions. Deep OpenEXR is its own stream, with merge, holdout, recolor, and flatten nodes.
Video when you need it
Video read and write through FFmpeg, with ProRes, DNxHR, H.264, FFV1, and more for review and delivery.
Animation and playback
Animate any float parameter in a keyframe curve editor and dope sheet. A timeline with transport controls plays from a frame cache filled by background rendering.
A workspace you can rearrange
Dock and rearrange the Viewer, Node Graph, Properties, Project, Curve Editor, Dope Sheet, and Jobs panels. Settings for cache size, OCIO, wires, 3D navigation, and hotkeys stay on the machine.

Cloud nodes (optional)
GPU models as graph nodes
Local graphs run on your machine and need no account. Optional cloud nodes send a frame range to hosted GPUs and bring the result back into the graph, for jobs such as point tracking and camera estimation. Cloud nodes need an account, a payment method, and browser sign-in from Preferences. GPU time is metered.
